How do you optimise websites/blog posts for search engines?

Making your blog posts, pillar pages and overall website SEO-friendly is super important to strengthen your website’s search authority. If you want search engines to understand and show your website to users, here are a few tips to consider...

  • Do your keyword research

On the surface, one-way search engines consider your pages as relevant is through related keywords. Using tools like AHREFs can help you identify the right keywords, search queries and questions related to your business or topic – helping you frame your content, target the right search terms and understand what your audience is interested in.

  • Have a good heading!

Another way search engines try to understand what your page is about from the heading. Take advantage of this opportunity to communicate your topic by formatting it correctly as a header <h1> and use your primary target keyword. But don’t forget to make sure your title actually reads to real humans!

  • Optimise your images

How many times have you exited a website that is too slow to load? It can be frustrating, annoying and overall a bad user experience (UX). One way to solve this is to have small image sizes, so the page loads faster, bounce rates are lower, and the website is easier to visit.

Don’t forget to add alt-text to your images (text behind your image) to let search engines know what the photo is about. This is another way you can include your keyword on the page.
